Our client, a medium sized organisation located in Ipswich, are currently seeking a Solution Architect for an initial 6-month contract with 3 x 6 month extension options. 

The ICT Architecture and Security team has a requirement to develop solution designs for several planned and emergent projects for 2019-20. These planned projects require the development of their solutions through creation of solution architecture, high level solution design and detailed solution implementation plans.

The role will be required to work with Enterprise Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts and business stakeholders to develop and document the solutions using the organisations standards and templates.

The projects, at various stages of progression, requiring architecture services are listed below. The level of involvement in each project will vary from several hours to several days per week (this will be managed via a schedule with the Project Managers).

• Identity & Access Management
• Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
• GIS strategy implementation Flood Operations Centre technology resilience
• Other emergent 2019/20 project pipeline work

Key duties and responsibilities;

• Innovatively solve business problems through the creation of technical solutions and development of non-functional requirements.
• Develop solutions from requirements that fulfil business needs from stakeholders, utilising tools, techniques and principles used by the ICT Architecture team.

1. Translate requirements into a language which can be understood by the intended solution providers or technology teams including:
2. Creation of solution architecture diagrams
3. Creation of high-level solution design
4. Creation of detailed implementable designs
5. Prototyping, mock-ups and wireframes
6. Providing technical input and feedback into business cases and other project documentation as required

• Ensure that the relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
• Prepare briefing material and regular performance reports for key stakeholders
• Participate in peer review and Architectural Review Group sessions to improve solution design artefacts.
• Perform other Solution Architecture related activities as allocated, ensuring quality of outputs in terms of time, cost and business benefit.
• Perform other tasks/projects as directed by the ICT Architecture and Security Team Lead and Enterprise Architects.

Knowledge, Experience, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Solution Architect
• Experience in interpreting business requirements for the development of solution architecture and design
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in a clear manner
• High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate and proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
